Why it is worth the journey
Pompeii is not a single ruin or viewpoint: it is a walk through an entire city, with scale, weather and the surviving street plan making the experience physical.
What a short clip leaves out
The Park uses personal, non-transferable tickets tied to a visit date and admission time slot, with a 20,000-entry daily limit. Heat, uneven surfaces, the distance between entrances and rotating building access matter before you arrive.
Access, tickets and opening hours
For the 2026 summer window from 16 March to 14 October, the Park lists 09:00 opening, 17:30 last admission and 19:00 closing. Standard ancient-city admission is €20 and the wider Pompeii+ route is €25. Use the Park's official seller route and recheck temporary closures and the open-building list before travelling.
Choose the right entrance
Porta Marina and Piazza Esedra are served from Pompei Villa dei Misteri on the Napoli–Sorrento Circumvesuviana line; Piazza Anfiteatro is paired with Pompei Santuario on the Napoli–Poggiomarino line. The accessible Pompeii for All route starts from Piazza Anfiteatro. Match your ticket, route and station to the entrance rather than navigating to the Comune centre.
